Spartans Trounce Trinity Catholic 16-4
Savio rebounded from a disheartened loss to East Boston by trouncing Trinity Catholic 16-4. Peter Flaherty upped his record to 3-1 with a complete game effort. Mike McCarthy, Robert Lerro, Dennis Buckley and Joe Valarese powered the attack with two hits apiece. The win kept Savio tied for the lead in the Central Catholic DII league. They play Trinity again today and a win will clinch a tie for the league championship.

Spartans Lose To Eastie 17-7
Savio has suffered two heartbreaking losses this season, but the East Boston handed Savio its third loss of the season and in could only be described as frustrating. The team started off strong scoring three in the first and added two in the third to take a 5-3 lead. But, from then on, the game belong to East Boston. The jets capitalized on every Spartans mistake, miscue and ineffective at bats to blast Savio 17-7. The game was marred with unusual quirks and blunders. The Spartans never took advantage of men on base stranding a at least a dozen. They failed to tag up or advance on Jet errors several times costing them runs. And, they and the umpires committed key errors that lead to two inside the park homeruns from Eastie players. these all accounted for the winning margin. Who could imagine the team with five triples would only score six runs. That's one dubious distinction the Spartans accomplished when  Robert Baglie(2), Dennis Buckley, Joe Valarese and peter Flaherty each blasted fastballs top the outer limits of Noyes Park. In fact, Flaherty led off the sixth inning but was stranded as the next three Spartans failed to get him home. On the lone positive no,, the loss did not hurt the Spartans chances of claiming a share of the league title.
